Sailing to the Galapagos
My very first trip to the Galapagos Islands involved different experiences, back then it was pretty embarrassing, but now I cherish them all.
The first surprise was how to walk on a sailing boat… you do a zig-zag!!
The best way to share a sailing experience with dolphins… Flat on your stomach on the bow, you seem to be able to touch them
How do you eat when sailing and the boat is really tilting? … you don’t!
How do you sleep when sailing?… hang on tight to something or sleep on the floor between the bunk beds!
Why would the cook become furious with the captain? He wasn’t informed that sails were about to be opened!
How do you learn to snorkel?… with the boat anchored, wearing a life vest… and holding a rope because you don’t want to sink!! (never mind all the guide’s explanations about the meaning of the life vest)
How do you practice your recently acquired snorkeling ability? With the captain holding your hands at Devil’s crown, watching the bottom just a few feet under, and the rest of passengers looking out for Galapagos sharks!!
