Both regions are within 2 hours flying distance and make for a signature travel experiences of our lives. We prefer to begin in Peru and end in the Galapagos but it can be done both ways. Travel to the mysterious lost city of Machu Picchu and then on to cruise the world-famous Galapagos Islands. This fascinating combo (which can be customized as a luxury or deluxe trip) begins in the bustling colonial town of Cusco, Peru. After touring this fascinating and charming town, travel through the legendary Sacred Valley, stopping to explore villages and ancient Inca ruins along the way. A scenic train ride takes you to the magnificent ruins of Machu Picchu. Here, spend two days exploring the captivating ruins and the majestic mountains that surround them.

The thrilling adventure continues as you fly to Ecuador, where you will embark on a five day or 8 day cruise of the "Enchanted Isles," famed for inspiring Darwin's theory of evolution. The Galapagos Islands' unique ecosystem sustains extraordinary plant, animal, and geological diversity, creating opportunity for unprecedented wildlife contact and impressive photos. The combination of these two world-renowned destinations makes for the South American adventure of a lifetime!

Itinerary Summary 13 Day (or 17 Days, depending if you choose a 5 or 8 day Galapagos cruise)

Day 1

Arrive in Lima, Peru.

Day 2

Fly to Cuzco, walking tour of Cuzco.

Day 3

Visit the Urubamba Valley or the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Visit Ollantaytambo, where Inca Ollanta stopped the conquistadores.

Day 4

Early morning transfer to train station to board train to Machu Picchu – lost city of the Incas. Stay in Cuzco or the ruins.(Choose the deluxe vistadome cabin or the luxury Hirham Bingham train)

Day 5

Visit magical energy of Machu Picchu ruins.. Climb up Hauynu Picchu or free time until train arrives. Train ride back to Cuzco.

Day 6

Explore Cusco, Visit Plaza de Armas.

Day 7

Fly from Cuzco to Quito, Ecuador. Overnight in Quito

Day 8

Fly to Galapagos Islands.

Day 8-12

Live aboard the yacht and spend as much time exploring the islands as park rules permit. Each night we travel on to the next island.

Day 12

We have our last island visit in the morning then fly back to Quito for farewell dinner and overnight.
