Safari Villa + Cruise Combination
Set in the lush highlands of Santa Cruz Island is a peaceful campsite where giant tortoises freely roam and African-style safari tents offer a relaxing escape close to the natural wonders of the Galapagos Islands for couples or families looking to extend their time in the Galapagos Islands before or after a four or five day cruise.
The flexibility of a land based program combines nicely with the more structured cruise itinerary, allowing for more multisport activities or relaxation, while still having the chance for visiting farther islands on a traditional cruise departure. All activities can be tailored to interests, and can include multisport adventures like horseback riding, SCUBA, kayaking, mountain biking and snorkeling.
One of our favorite options is to combine three or four nights at Safari Camp before or after a cruise on the Athala II or Odyssey boats. The Camp works before a 4 day Athala cruise, and after a 5 day cruise; with the Odyssey, it’s best before the 5 day cruise and post 4-day cruise.
Cruise
The Athala II is a 16-passenger luxury catamaran, with spacious cabins and one of the top short itineraries. Guides are excellent, and it’s a great experience to combine with a land based trip. For luxury travelers looking for a top Galapagos cruise, this is one of the best options.
The Odyssey is a 16-passenger first class deluxe yacht, with one of the top itineraries in the Galapagos. The five day itinerary in particular is excellent, taking guests to Sierra Negra Volcano on Isabela Island. This is an excellent option for travelers looking for an in-depth short cruise.
