Isabela Island + Cruise Combination
Galapagos Excursions’ Isabela Island and cruise combination is designed for travelers interested in dividing their time between a four or five day cruise, followed by several nights on the magical Isabela Island. This itinerary is perfect for more adventurous travelers interested in spending time at sea and on land, but away from the more populated areas on the other islands. Isabela Island has 70% of the Galapagos wildlife and is one of the most fascinating and intimate places to interact with the island’s approachable wildlife.
By spending some time on a boat you’ll have the advantage of seeing many of the islands that traditional land based programs are unable to reach. Combined with a stay in the charming town of Puerto Villamil at a beachfront hotel, you’ll have the opportunity to include multisport activities like mountain biking, hiking, snorkeling with sharks (harmless, believe it or not), as well as relaxing on the pristine white sand beach that fronts the town.
Cruise
The program begins with a five or four day expedition aboard one of the yachts in our portfolio, with your days spent exploring the marvels of the Galapagos Islands, and snorkeling beneath the waves with amazing marine wildlife.
Isabela Island
Return to Santa Cruz or San Cristóbal Island post-cruise and take either a short flight or water taxi to Isabela Island. Isabela is the largest island in the archipelago, and still fairly undiscovered by tourism. The small town of Puerto Villamil has a relaxed vibe, and a white sand beach stretches for miles on the outskirts of town – perfect for sunning, swimming, trying out some surfing, and watching the ghost crabs. Isabela is a paradise for more active travelers, with mountain biking trips, surfing, lots of snorkeling, and more intensive hikes all options for your time here. There are several hotels, ranging from more budget-friendly to luxury, to match all travel styles and budgets.
