8-Day Machu Picchu + 8-Day Galapagos


DAY 1

Arrival in Lima

Arrival in Lima, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

DAY 2

Lima

Today enjoy a half-day city tour of the highlights of colonial Lima, including lunch at Rosa Nautica. In the afternoon visit the famed Museo Larco. (B, L)

DAY 3

Sacred Valley

Flight to Cuzco, where you will be met and transferred to the Sacred Valley, to better help with acclimatization. En route you will visit Pisac village and market. Later today relax with an optional spa afternoon. (B, L)

DAY 4

Sacred Valley

Spend the day in the Sacred Valley, visiting the villages and ruin sites at Chinchero and Ollantaytambo. Also visit the terraces and mines at Maras & Moray. A box lunch is included. (B, BL)

DAY 5

Machu Picchu

Transfer to the train station for the Vistadome train to one of the world's most important archaeological sites - Machu Picchu (Deluxe and Luxury categories include Hiram Bingham Luxury Train Service). Upon arrival you will have a private guide who will show you around the citadel, with time for lunch at Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge. Spend the night in Aguas Calientes. (B, L)

DAY 6

Machu Picchu

You'll have a second day at Machu Picchu, without a guide, although entrance fees and roundtrip bus tickets are included. Explore the ruins at your leisure, before returning to Aguas Calientes at the appropriate time for the train to Cuzco. Transfer to your hotel in Cuzco. (B)

DAY 7

Cuzco
Cuzco is a magnificent town, probably one of the most beautiful in South America. Today you will have a tour, giving you the chance to explore this living example of the mixture of Inca and Spanish culture; also visit Sacsayhuamán Fortress and the sites of Qenko, Puca-Pucara and Tambomachay. (B)

DAY 8

Quito

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima, connecting to Quito. Transfer to your hotel upon arrival. Ask us about optional extensions to the Amazon, a Quito city tour or an overnight at a traditional hacienda.

DAY 9

Galapagos

Early this morning transfer to the airport for your flight to the Galapagos Islands. Once in Galapagos, you'll pass through the airport, before embarking on your comfortable vessel - depending on your preferences, we work with boats that range from 16 to 100 passengers. All boats have excellent naturalist guides, who will be your resource for the next five days and four nights as you cruise the Islands, learning more about the amazing flora and fauna that make the Galapagos so unique. DAY 10-14 Galapagos
Highlights of your Galapagos journey could include swimming with playful sea lions, snorkeling with penguins and sea turtles, or watching a mother blue-footed booby feed her baby. Marvel at the giant land tortoises, cross the Equator and visit the famed Charles Darwin Station! Your cruise will include two island visits each day with a highly trained naturalist guide, along with all meals, accommodation, snacks and the opportunity for the experience of a lifetime! (B, L, D)
DAY 15

Quito

Today your Galapagos cruise will end; transfer to the airport for your return to Quito. Transfer to your Quito hotel. (B)

DAY 16 Transfer to the airport at the scheduled time for your international flight home. (B)
