Great Diving Spots in Galapagos Islands

We have written before of the many wonders of the Galapagos Islands, but it’s worth exploring the equally wonderful sights you can find under the water on the amazing diving cruise excursions that the Galapagos have to offer.  As the second largest marine reserve in the world, the Galapagos hosts a most impressive variety — over 500 species of marine life, including the exciting sharks and stingrays!

There are many great dive spots in Galapagos, of which we recommend these interesting underwater adventures:

Gordon Rocks

This one is not for the lighthearted. Hammerhead Sharks are the main attraction here, and they are usually in large impressive schools, so you’ll be able to catch more than a glimpse of them. You’ll feel hypnotized when you see the strength and unique form of these impressive and unusual sharks.

Turtles and various kinds of rays are frequently seen at this site as well. Definitively a thrilling experience.  For intermediate and expert divers only, because of the strong currents.

It takes over an hour to get tothe Gordon Rock from Santa Cruz Island so it’s not a long trip but definitively it’s one of great interest.

Seymour Islands

Suitable for all kinds of divers,  this spot is varied and perfect for a family dive. You have to keep your eyes open the whole time, because the are so many species in the five dive spots of Seymour Island, you’ll have a hard time keeping track of them all.

From the large colonies of eels to the white tip sharks. this is truly like visiting a most vast and diverse, giant aquarium. Currents sometimes may be strong but it doesn’t get in the way of having one of the most enjoyable dives in the island. Note it is recommended that divers have experience with open water diving to dive in the Galapagos.

A boat ride of 90 minutes from the main island and you’ll be experiencing this amazing adventure.

We’ll keep giving you tips of the incredible diving options of Galapagos Islands here in our blog, but just to be sure you don’t miss out on any opportunities, contact us and we will be happy to provide more information. We work with only the most professional caliber of boats and dive masters in this destination.
