Why July is a Great Month to Visit the Galapagos

Galapagos is one of those rare places you can visit any time of the year and still be delighted by the unique landscapes and species that call this place their home.

The weather in the islands is very unique too with a dry season that goes from June until December and a warm season from December to May but no matter what, whichever month you decide to come to visit you’ll always have different and interesting things to see in Galapagos.

The month of July is definitively a great month for all the birds enthusiasts specially because the famous Blue Footed and Nazca Boobies are in the middle of their nesting process. If you’re lucky you’ll have the chance to see the four stages of the nesting and you’ll see this unique bird when they are still eggs, chicks, juveniles and sub adults.

Some other species, like the flightless Cormorant, can be seen performing their courting rituals and nesting activities on Fernardina Island. Puerto Egas on Santiago Island is the perfect spot to watch the American Oystercatchers and to catch a glimpse of their nests.

The incredible Lava Lizards are also starting their mating season that goes on until November and they can be seen on almost every island. July is also a great month for watching dolphins and whales in the western coast of Isabela Island so you have to keep your eyes open if you want to see these beautiful underwater visitors.

The water at this time of year does not reach more than 21C or 70 F so it’s perfect to enjoy cooling swims and diving expeditions.

Every month brings different and exciting new reasons to visit Galapagos Islands so don’t wait any longer and contact us and we’ll arrange the perfect trip for you.
