Alan and I had a truly wonderful experience in Ecuador. Santiago and the rest of staff were excellent hosts, as was the La Pinta and its staff. We had an amazing trip.
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!! The trip was outstanding; all the arrangements were perfect – from the time we were met at the airport in Quito – to the time we were returned to the airport in Guayaquil.

Hotels in Cuenca

Cuenca, declared a Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999, with approximately 400,000 inhabitants, is considered by many to be the most beautiful city in the country due its architecture, surroundings and small town ambiance. The city is crossed by four rivers and surrounded by green valleys. Its inhabitants create some of the finest crafts in the country.

 Santa Lucia (Deluxe boutique)

If you are looking to experience traditional Spanish style city living at its best you’ve found the right place. The house where the Santa Lucia hotel is located was built by the first governor of Azuay province (where Cuenca is located), Don Manuel Vega Davila, in 1859. The house remained in the Vega family for over a hundred years, being a peaceful witness of important episodes of the history of southern Ecuador. The restoration of the house began in 1999 and lasted more than two and a half years. Santa Lucia hotel has rescued and preserved this piece of Cuenca heritage, keeping this house as an example of the architectural style of the last part of the XIX Century Ecuador. At the same time our hotel offers its guests all the modern comforts. In 2002 the city of Cuenca awarded our hotel the prize: “Fray José María Vargas” for the best restoration of a historical building.

A beautiful and large family house built in 1890,  the building was recently restored to its original beauty in the brick and marble exterior, and adapted its interior to offer all the comforts of a modern hotel, its interior is decorated with typical elements of the Ecuadorian culture and beautiful local craftsmanship.  Located on the banks of Tomebamba river, in the romantic area of El Barranco, the hotel is one of the few privileged  properties with a gated garden on the river bank that is an excellent option for families with children.   It is at walking distance from the main plaza and most attractions of the colonial city.    Some of its 23 rooms face the river, while others  face the colonial city.
