Making a Difference in Galapagos with The Scalesia Foundation

Since our very beginnings at Galapagos Excursions we have been supporting different causes to ensure the preservation of the Islands and its inhabitants.

As part of our efforts this time we want to get our visitors involved in another great cause that is constantly working on making a difference on the education of the children of Galapagos Islands.

The Scalesia Foundation has been working for more than decade on changing the educational system on the Islands. At the moment the schools are failing on turning the students into future citizens and leaders that can that can ensure long term and sustainable developments for the islands.

In 1994 the foundation started and educational pilot on the Tomas de Berlanga School and after 13 years the school has proudly graduated its first class and currently have more than 100 students between elementary and secondary school.

But the population in Galapagos has experienced a huge growth in past 25 years and this has created a big burden on and educational system, on top of that the actual curriculum of many of the schools does not match the needs of the social and environmental reality of the natives of the Islands.

As you can see there’s a ton of work to be done to fix the current situation and the main goal of Scalesia Foundation is to educate the children and help them to become the best they can possibly be because they are the future of the world.

If you’re interested on being part of this amazing cause please contact us and we’ll fill you with all the details on how can you get involved.
